And I'm really excited to announce that v2.0 will not run on my iPhone 6s Plus (iOS11.4.1).  I get the lavender? Vi splash page and then it quits.

How do i start at (free run) workout in the new 2.0 version? Can’t find the button for it...

Oh for goodness' sake. So excited, get the new app for iPhone 6, give Vi my goals, get a training plan. Put on headphones and can't start a run. Any run. Not from the plan, not from a customized option. I hit the download button and it just spins and spins. I waited 10 minutes for my last attempt and have given up. And after all that fiddling, now I'm going to work and have missed a run. I really want to love this Vi business but it's getting really hard. (restarted the phone, closed and restarted the app)

I have the same issue on my Pixel 2 XL.  The App doesn't move past the pink/purple splash screen.  I have tried a phone restart and uninstall/install without any success.

Seems to be working now. Don't know what's different, but it's giving me the start button... still don't know how to control music, but I'll give it a go.

Okay, once I got started she told me what to do about music (start music outside of the app). I can do that. No problem. I like it. Good job on the update, but with every major update comes issues. Good luck! -c.

Hi guys! We're sorry to hear that some of you have had trouble, but not to worry, we'll get you all taken care of!

Andrew and David - Please delete the app, restart your phone, then reinstall the app. If the issue persists after that, please email us at support@vitrainer.com so that we can look at your account details and investigate further!

Candy - So sorry about that, I completely understand your frustration, but I'm glad to hear you're all set now! Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any issues going forward!

Jonas - We don't have "Free Run" setting in this version of the app, but you can choose "Customize a Run" instead. You do have to set a time or distance initially, however, the workout will keep going until you stop it.

I hope this is helpful! We're here anytime you need us, so don't hesitate to reach out!

Hi, Great to have training plans and I used them training plans this morning, it was a little buggy, here is my feedback. I'm using an iphone 8.

    1) Setting up the plans, I originally went for distance and wanted to change it to getting faster. I tried "Rebuild my plan from scratch" but it won't seem to let me out of distance as a goal.

    2) When I was out on the plan, beacon was not working. I really like to know when I'm coming up to a beacon, it helps motivate me. I'd really like this to work with the training plans

    3) When I was out on the plan, I was using the touch to ask for my distance. I got the normal ping, but she wouldn't respond to me, I didn't even get "hmmm, I didn't quite get that". I use this feature loads, so not having it is not awesome

    4) I listen to podcasts on my run with the overcast. I found that most of the time the audio paused for Vi (as it always has) but many times she was talking over the audio, so I couldn't hear either very well

Are any of these expected? Can you feedback to let me know what's being fixed from the list above

    Cheers

Ok, deleting, rebooting, and re-installing app worked.

    Hi,
Can i ask - why on earth did you remove the free run and Spotify options?
Normally I welcome changes and new features, but this time I feel like it’s 1 step forward, but 2 steps back... 😞

"You do have to set a time or distance initially, however, the workout will keep going until you stop it."

It did not do this for me. The plan had me at 20 minutes, but I felt good and kept going for about 30 minutes longer. The workout stopped at 15 minutes, since it also didn't count the 5 minute warm up.

    Hi,

I have an iPhone 6 with current iOS version. I contributed to VI's success via Kickstarter fund raising and was happy with the previous version of Vi.  I follow my own training plan for running and do not require any Vi training plan. If the workout requires counting or pacing (interval or tempo workouts), I use my Garmin watch.

Vi is use for biofeedback of heart rate and cadence, as well as mileage, time and splits under the pre-2.0 version.

With 2.0, Vi has become useless. Problems encountered include:

    a. extreme wait time for plans to download, even when customizing the run to a set of miles.

    b. I've run with Vi 2.0 twice. Each time, the GPS signal was lost midrun when on a trail without tree cover. First time was Thursday when there was cloud cover. Second time was this morning when there was a clear sky... no clouds, no trees.  (In contrast, Wednesday was run with the previous app version and same cloud cover as Thursday without incident.)

    c. I generally keep Vi's comments to the beacon responses under the previous version. Now, Vi 2.0 is verbose under the quietest setting. And, the information keeps getting repeated..."You are 20% done with workout."  That is too much noise.

    d. I have been running 3 miles most weekday mornings. Somehow, the mileage and time got messed up when I look at history.

The last two runs, I closed the app and am thankful that I mapped out the courses ahead of time to get the miles in my plan.

I like Vi feedback, but am ready to shelve it while you work on the problems.  Can you help?

Hi Enrico, the free run option was looped into the "Customize a Run" feature and we removed the direct music integrations temporarily while we work on some major improvements to that feature! However, you can still play music from any source you'd like in the background by starting your music then returning to our app and starting your workout.

Janeatthezoo - were you doing a guided run or a custom run? If you're doing one of our curated workouts, the workout will automatically end at the end of the time. It is when doing a customized run that it will keep going past the time or distance you originally set. So sorry for any confusion!

Hi Stu - we really appreciate this detailed feedback and I'm so sorry for the frustrating experience you've had so far. I see your email as well. We're going to have our team investigate all of this further and we'll respond to your email shortly!

I'm back and forth over support with this, but I wanted to post an update to the board for anyone else that is struggling with the same things.

    Current issues:

    Beacon updates on training runs

Vi have removed beacon updates for training runs, this has really affected the way that I run as the beacon sound really motivated me. I've been told that this is a feature and not a bug. Although when she tells you what speed you should be going but you have no way of knowing your speed it's super frustrating. I've resorted to using strava at the same time on my apple watch to get the stats I need.

    Voice commands (on training runs?)

These are just not working for me at all. I get the familiar "ping" say a word and get nothing back. Again this is not helping my motivation and I need strava on my wrist to get the info I need.

I've been told to reset my headphones, I've done this loads.

    Podcasts

Vi randomly talks over them, this has been noted as a bug

I'm not seeing the value in Vi right now.

    Hi Emily,

I'm very sorry to hear about your continued frustration!

Just to clarify, Beacon updates have been turned off for certain guided runs, but not all of them. If Beacon updates are turned off for a specific run, it is due to the nature of the guidance you'll be getting from Vi and because the Beacons may actually interrupt the workout.

We haven't been hearing about other issues with the voice recognition feature not working with the guided runs. Our team is looking into both that and the issue you're experiencing while listening to podcasts. We're very sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime.

Ervin will continue to be in touch with you via email regarding these issues!

I have been told that turning off the beacon updates is on purpose, but I think that sucks. I have used beacon updates as a motivation, so I'd like to have the choice to keep them on.

It feels like this big bang release didn't really give enough time for proper user research and someone somewhere has made decisions that have negatively affected the experience for many of us. I'd really encourage a rethink on this particular decision.

Can you say which guided runs have beacon updates on them, there is nothing that indicates this in the app.

I can no longer find voice recognition in the settings, has it been removed or hidden somewhere I can't find it?

    Hi Emily,

Thanks! Just responded to your last email with clarifications on the issues you've raised

Beacon updates are not available for a walk to run, interval run, and fartlek run guided workouts. For all other guided runs, as well as, customized runs, you should be able to access Vi's beacon update feature!

Regarding Vi's voice commands, you'll need to have your Vi Sense headphones connected to your mobile phone in order to see that list of options in your app settings.

We've noted all your feedback here and passed it along! Thanks so much!

    @Ervin B.,

I ran with Vi this morning on a 3 mile customized run and did not receive beacon updates.

    VI App version: 2.0.1 (87)

    Earphones: 02.03.03.00

And I was on a timed run, so that explanation doesn't fit with either experience.

No response to the voice commands not working - aside from pushing the blame onto me and denying that it could be a bug :(

Stu and Emily  - you should definitely be getting Beacon Updates on your customized runs. Our team is going to look into that in both of your cases!

Emily - We are absolutely investigating the issue you're having with the right earbud, as Ervin has stated in your email correspondence. Please continue to work with him there as it is easiest for us to have all of the details regarding the issue you're experiencing in one place.

    Hi guys

For me, the major issue is that Vi doesn't understand when you are climbing a hill or running on a flat surface.. She keeps saying, you need to rise your cadence to reach your ideal one... Also she doesn't seems taking in count when you are already pushing ourselves/suffering lol.. I mean when she keeps saying your cadence is too slow and your heart is already high and you are climbing a hill, it's very frustrating.. I would prefer Vi to encourage me without getting an heart attack lol..

To download a session, it is also super slow (I'm using an iPhone 7 plus), more frustrating than before the update..

I'm also looking forward for the meditation feature.. which I'm waiting for it since last October when your 6-months roadmap was released..

    Thank you

@Amanda A. Just finished an 8 mile run which was a customized run without beacon updates. So, still not getting them.

Also, it would seem that when customizing a run, that means the plan is most likely to run easy. The encouragement provided by Vi seems to be misplaced sometimes. (paraphrase: "Dig deep and give me everything you have")

Lastly, wrt/cadence: my warmup mile was recorded at 172 (per Vi) which was my optimal (per Vi). At ~mile 3, Vi announced that the ground was on fire and my cadence was 175, 3 beats higher than normal. Then during the 7th mile, Vi told me my cadence was 179, 4 steps over my optimum (which jumped from 172 to 175 mid-run).

Last week, you said that Vi will adjust to my cadence over workouts. This adjustment seemed to happen during the workout. Just passing on the observation.

I do like the way that the weather is integrated into the beginning of the run messages.

    Very interested in stable build.

Thanks for the feedback, Stu! We are looking into the Beacon updates issue and I'll share your experience with our team as well, it will help their investigation.

We're going to look into your experience with the step rate as well to see what was happening during your run!

Are they working on an app for non-IPad tablets? Case in point my phone broke today and I am awaiting a replacement so now I am going to be unable to log or use my trainer to keep me on track.

Hey there! At this time, we do not have an app available for tablets, in general. The reason being is that you currently need your mobile phone on you when going for a run. We're exploring ways around this so please keep an eye out for announcements! Cheers!
